1980s Sweet Memories by Robert Opie is a high quality 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle by Gibsons
Completed puzzle size: 48 x 68cm
During the new high-tech age of the 80s, it was good to find calm comfort amonst familiar sweet brands and penny chews. Some brands have moved their designs tentatively from their original format, for example the Bounty bar added a coconut tree, but most clung onto the consistency that made them popular. It’s now the time to be nostalgic and reminisce with this jigsaw as the pieces from the past fit together once more.
As with all Gibsons jigsaws, the carefully illustrated pieces are made from the highest quality 100% recycled board and are therefore a pleasure to work with again and again.
Robert Opie started recording the history of everyday products at the age of sixteen. He built up a collection, starting with a packet of Munchies, that now extends to all aspects of daily life: toys, magazines, technology, travel, souvenirs, fashion and design. His collection can now be viewed at The Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising. The museum gives visitors ‘a trip down memory lane’ and a chance to see how many brands around us have evolved from the naïve charm of Victorian times to the greater sophistication of today.
